Meta and Microsoft announced their partnership for improving the Metaverse at the Meta Connect 2022 event. Microsoft will bring a lot of its applications to the Meta Quest devices. Firstly, the company will release Mesh for Microsoft Teams to Quest devices. Also, there will be other applications like Microsoft 365, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and more. Here are the details about Meta and Microsoft partnership.
Microsoft apps coming to Meta Quest devices
Due to the pandemic, companies and people have started to be used to virtual reality. While some people believe that Metaverse will be the future, others didn’t like and support the Metaverse instead of the reality. However, tech companies are still improving the VR world with the latest upgrades.
According to the announcements, Mesh for Microsoft Teams will be the first application that comes to Quest devices. Thanks to the app support on Meta Quest devices, users will be able to join video meetings in virtual reality. It means that people could gather virtually in the place where work happens on any device by using their smartphones, laptops, and mixed-reality headsets.
Additionally, the tech giant will bring Microsoft 365 apps to VR devices. Users can use productivity apps, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint within VR. Microsoft will also launch the ability to stream a Windows Cloud PC including users’ personalized apps, content, and settings.
Microsoft will also release Microsoft Intune and Azure Directory support for Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 2. There will also be support for Xbox Cloud Gaming in Meta Quest Store. Thanks to the Xbox Cloud Gaming, gamers will have access to streaming several high-quality games to phones, tablets, PCs, select smart TVs, and the Meta Quest platform.
